Negros Island

My college buddies and I attended the Psychological Association of the Philippines 54th Annual Convention at Bacolod City last September 20-22, and because we wanted to unwind from work and all the stress that we had, we went earlier to tour around the place.

In going to Bacolod we travelled via Dapitan-Dumaguete. (I think I payed aroud 390Php while my friend who availed SP payed around 350Php, for economy)

Travel time: 6PM then we arrived before 10PM

We just stroll around near the port, then we went to Bus Terminal. We rode in non-air conditioned bus headed to Bacolod, from 10:30PM -3:00AM.

Here is my review about where we stayed.

Review about Java Penshionne House:

Location: In the city but it is hard to locate. It’s formerly known as Boscon Hotel. 3/5

Staffs:  Really accommodating, and also give us tips on what to visit and where to eat. They also cleaned our room daily whenever we are not around, and they are very trustworthy. 5/5

Price: Very affordable. We availed  4pax room plus 1 extra bed (which booked ahead of time through facebook, but payment was only done when we arrived) then we divided the total cost. We stayed there for around 5 days and payed only 1, 040Php each. 5/5

Room: It is really old. I didn’t also used the cabinets. The comfort rooms has no proper drainage. The water is not clean, so I had to buy bottled water tow ash my face but since I had to take a bath still, I had rashes and skin allergies on my stay there. 0/5

One of the best thing in Bacolod is their Chicken Inasal so we tried it. Manokan is near SM.

Where to go?

  • It really feels good to start your itinerary by visiting churches & if you are into old and classic ones, then visit San Sebastian Church just in front of Bacolod Public Plaza. (Be careful though, we were told there were snatchers around the plaza)
  • The Negros Museum @ Gatuslao St, Bacolod, Negros Occidental. 20170918_114545.jpg

  • Pope John Paul II Tower (I forgot to note about the entrance fee)
Tip. Visit this at night so you can see the city light from the top of the tower.

  • The Ruins
    Tip. Visit at sunset

There are also a lot of places to visit in the city next to Bacolod City which is Silay City. From Bacolod you can ride a jeepney going to north terminal (7Php). The jeepney terminal is right in front of the bus terminal, the jeepney will take a u turn so you can be dropped exactly in the jeepney terminal.

Look for the jeepney with the sign “Silay”, that will be for 14.00Php. Asked the driver or the kunduktor to drop you at Heritage street or somewhere close to El Ideal (which they pronounce as L-dyal), or you can just drop near the dome church.

    From there you start.

  • San Diego Pro-Cathedral, Silay City

  • Balay Negrense

You can also just walk around Silay City,  which is known as the Heritage City of the Philippines. There are a lot of well preserved ancestral houses around.

Where to eat?

  • We tried Aida’s Chicken near SM Bacolod City, since one of the penshionne house staff recommended it.

The chicken is a bit smaller compared to the Man Inasal Chicken, but they used native chicken of Bacolod.

I am also into atay and tina-e “isaw”. It was really good, but I find tina-e a bit expensive, but still it is a must if you are gonna visit Bacolod City.

Their tina-e is also drier than compared to the saucy tina-e I had before in other places.

  • Calea Pastries and Coffee @Bacood City
If you are into sweets then you must try calea’s cake. (Most cake slice range from 90-100Php)20170922_191227
  • El Ideal, Silay City
One of the oldest restaurants in the province. There are also patries for pasalubong here (pricey though).20170923_085146

If you want to buy pasalubong BongBongs and Merzci is all over Bacolod City.

Bacolod Aiport is in Silay City, so it takes time from Bacolod City. From Silay City to the aiport is 10Php for tricycle bu 60Php for van. The difference is that , tricycle cannot get inside the gate of the airport so you have to walk (it’s just really close, you can just walk if you are not carrying heavy luggage and all).

3 Days in Dipolog City

Royal farm resort is a bit far from the city. If you want a hot pool for cold nights, this is definitely where you should go. Although the pools here are only as deep as 4 feet and less. It is a safe and fun place to bring your kids.

Its a Php 50.00 ride from the city to here in a single motor.

You can booked in advance and pay 50% of the total cost.

They also serve foods which are mostly good for 2-3 persons, and if you find it a bit expensive, you can buy something in the city, they don’t charge corkage.

We’ve tasted halo-halo special which is very tasty (highly recommended!), sisig and pancit canton.

If you want to visit a church you can also opt to visit the one located in the city so you can then roam around the city proper.

Dipolog Sunset Boulevard is also a must.

You will also have variety of food choices in here, ranging from restaurants, cafes, grills, to street foods.

Manuel Resort-Dipolog!

Celebrating 2017 with my boyfriend at Dipolog City.

I was able to see my childhood popeye with my real life popeye.

It’s a good place specially for kids, they have playgrounds all over the place. The landscape, design, and replicas of cartoon characters are everywhere.

Entrance fee: Php 200.00 (Probably peak season rate, my friends told me it’s cheaper on regular days)

Dahilayan Forest Park!

One foggy-rainy-chilly day in Dahilayan Forest Park, Bukidnon. Second time around but still amaze with the tall Pine Trees and weather.

And still amaze with the cheap entrance fee (Php 150.00 exclusive of the rides).

If you are looking for a date with nature, definitely one of the best place. An hour and 30 minutes away from Cagayan de Oro.

Del Monte Clubhouse- Bukidnon!

del-monte-clubhouse

I’ve been to Bukidnon, but it was my first time to dropped by Clubhouse. I was told they serve fresh food with really fresh vegetables, and meat. Indeed!

It may not look as appealing as it really is, but you can really taste the fresh vegies in here, although I was too full to finish one clubhouse burger.

It is near a golf course so you can enjoy the view while eating. 🙂

Happy 1st Anniversary!

From our different heartbreaks–to finally meeting each other to celebrate good days, and cheer each other up on our bad days. Its finally over a year now!

For all the memories

Since we live across different islands due to our work, we celebrated a little late.

@Paylings Oroquieta. Sisig comes with liver–the best for dinner with mango shake!

We seldom go on dates, or even see each other, but every moment that we are together is definitely worth it.

Love is greater than distance.
